Charles Maier

Dr. Charles “Chuck” L. Maier, Jr., 86, of Yardley, PA, passed away on May 23, 2022. Born in Trenton, he has resided in Yardley for the past 40 years. Chuck traveled all over the world before settling in Yardley. He was a graduate of Trenton Catholic High School, Villanova University with Bachelor of Science in Bio Chemistry, Rutgers University with a Masters and Ph.D. in Immunology and Bio Chemistry, the Institute de Pasteur in Paris, France with the Waxman Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Virology and Pharmacology, and the Sloan-Kettering Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Virology and Pharmacology at Dennison University. Chuck was employed at the Gorgas Institute in Panama. He then returned to the United States as a self-employed consultant with several patents in the area of pharmacology and virology. Son of the late Charles L., Sr., and Wilhemina (Gallagher) Maier, and brother of the late Robert V. Maier, he is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Susan (LaRossa) Maier of Yardley, brothers-in-law Michael LaRossa and Richard LaRossa both of Ewing, NJ, his special cousin Earlene J. Austin of New Hope, PA, and numerous cousins and close friends. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 11:00am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 752 Big Oak Rd., Morrisville, PA 19067. Calling hours at the church will be from 9:30am to 11:00am. Interment will be at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, 1215 Super Highway, Langhorne, PA 19047. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either St. John the Evangelist Church or to The National Shrine of St. Rita of Cascia (www.saintritashrine.org).
