He was born in Trenton, New Jersey on April 6, 1932, to the late Theresa (Soprony) and John Durle, who immigrated from Romania.
As a young man, Albert proudly served in the United States Navy. Prior to retiring, he was employed by the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company, Trenton, New Jersey as a telephone service technician for a period of 35 years. Before moving to Yardley, where he lived with his daughter Theresa and her husband Michael, he was a resident of Levittown, Pennsylvania for 48 years.
Albert was a very devout Catholic, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. As a daily communicant and regular adorer of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, he was a faithful disciple of the Lord. As a member of the Legion of Mary, and the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima, he had a loving devotion to the Blessed Mother. While living in Levittown, he was a member of Saint Michael, the Archangel Parish, where he attended Sunday Mass, served as a religious education teacher, was a member of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, and Member of the Legion of Mary, taking care of the poor, those in distress, and assisting others with their faith journey. He also assisted in keeping the Church grounds with his sons and volunteered his time at the parish fair with his family. As an advocate for life, and member of the Bucks County Pro-Life Coalition, he assisted mothers, children, and families in their time of need. Albert instilled his love for life in his children, who have followed his footsteps as members of the Pro-Life Coalition. In addition to participating with his family in service to the Church, Al was a baseball, and basketball coach, assisted his children with their studies, and many projects, and was an all-around handyman at home.
Albert was pre-deceased by his wife of 59 years, Stella (Stoika) Durle. He was also pre-deceased by his four brothers: Frank Darlea, John Durle, August Derle, George Durle, Victor Durle, and three sisters: Mary Nedzbala, Viola Cochran, and Theresa Panzolini.
Left to cherish his memory are his children and their spouses: Theresa (Durle) and Michael Strenge, John and Lisa Durle, Paul and Catherine Durle, Anthony and Laura Durle, all of Pennsylvania, and Joseph and Tami Durle of Indiana. He also leaves behind 29 adoring grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, a loving sister Julie Fysz of New Jersey, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and two cherished friends: Father Edward Kelty and Ed “Spyder” Neidert.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Albert’s life on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 752 Big Oak Road, Morrisville, Pennsylvania 19067.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father William Monahan and concelebrant Father Edward Kelty at 10:30 a.m. in Saint John the Evangelist Church.
Interment will follow in Saint Basil’s Romanian Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Hamilton, New Jersey.
