Confirmation

For “by the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.”

Rite of Confirmation, Introduction 1

Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, we renew our baptismal promises and commit to living a life of maturity in the Christian faith. Greater awareness of the grace of the Holy Spirit is conferred through the anointing of chrism oil and the laying on of hands by the Bishop.

The sacrament of Confirmation is normally received during 7th grade through our Parish Religious Education Program (PREP). For those coming into the Church, Confirmation is received at the Easter Vigil with Baptism and first Holy Communion. If you have graduated 8th grade, please contact OCIA to be fully received into the Church.

‘O Lord God, who did count these worthy of deserving the forgiveness of sins by the laver of regeneration, make them worthy to be filled with your Holy Spirit and send upon them thy grace in confirmation, that they may serve you according to your will”
