Thomas J. Donahue

Thomas J. Donahue, 87, of Yardley, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024 after a brief illness. Tom was the beloved husband to Joan M. (Possessky) Donahue for 61 years.
Born February 20, 1937 in Shenandoah, PA, he was the son of the late Leo and Mae (Brennan) Donahue.
In addition to his wife Joan, Tom is survived by his children, Tom Donahue and his wife Kathy of Doylestown, Mike Donahue and his wife Janis of Yardley, the late Brian Donahue of St. Petersburg, FL and grandchildren, Patrick and his wife Emily, Ryan and his wife Abby, Michael and his fiancée Katie, and Jessica Donahue.
After excelling as a three-sport athlete in high school, Tom proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, including a deployment in South Korea. Following his military service, he began his career at the Rohm & Haas Company, first as a technician at the Bridesburg plant and later as an accountant at the home office in downtown Philadelphia. While working at Rohm & Haas and raising a family with Joan in Northeast Philly’s Parkwood Manor neighborhood, Tom worked his way through night school at St. Joseph’s University earning his degree in Accounting. After dedicating more than 35 years to the company, Tom had the opportunity to retire in his late 50s thanks to an early retirement package.
Tom enjoyed a long, active retirement, moving to Langhorne, PA for 22 years and then to Yardley, PA since 2009. During retirement he enjoyed traveling with Joan, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, weekly golf outings with his fellow Rohm & Haas retirees, and especially the annual trips with his family to cheer on his beloved Fighting Irish football team at the University of Notre Dame. Tom was truly a “Notre Dame man”, rarely missing a ND football game, either in-person or watching on TV.
