Ferdinand C. Maiorino of Bensalem, PA died on Sunday December 30, 2018. He was 90.
Born in Trenton, NJ, son of the late Frederick L. and Giulia Moretti Maiorino, he resided in Lower Makefield Township, PA for over fifty years until recently moving to Juniper Village.
A graduate of Seton Hall University, after his service in the US Navy in World War II, Fred began a life long career in the pharmaceutical industry working for Schering-Plough in its professional sales division. He maintained a varied interest in sports as an avid fan of both the Yankees and the Eagles, he founded and coached the Pennsbury Little Lads Basketball Youth Club and was an active member of Pennsbury Athletic Association. A former member of St. Ignatius Parish, he participated in its ministry and became its Head Usher. Fred was also a longtime member of the Order Sons of Italy in America, Piazza Nuova Lodge #2665.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Irwin Maiorino; a daughter and son-in-law, Marybeth and Francis Chapman of Lower Makefield; four sons and daughters-in-law, Frederick T. and Patricia Maiorino of Mercerville, NJ, James and Debra Maiorino of Quakertown, PA, Thomas and Monica Maiorino of Mt. Laurel, NJ, and Donald and Sarah Maiorino of Waxhaw, NC; his sister, Elsie Little of Newport Beach, CA; 14 grandchildren- Andrew, Meredith, Bianca, Alison, Christopher, Melissa, James, TJ, Vincent, Robert, Elizabeth, Patrick, Jack and Olivia and 4 great grandchildren – Julia, Bennett, Catherine and Aria.
He was the brother of the late Joseph and Richard Maiorino.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am Friday January 4, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 752 Big Oak Road in Lower Makefield. Friends may call on Thursday from 5pm to 8pm at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue (River Road), Yardley, PA.
Fred was dedicated to his family, children, and numerous charities throughout his life. In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate memorial contributions in his honor to Team Chappy.
