John T. Schunk of Lower Makefield Township, PA died on Thursday January 18, 2018 at his home.
Born in Catasauqua, PA, the son of the late Frank and Mercedes O’Donnell Schunk, he resided in Levittown/Yardley area for the past 60 years.
John was retired from the Pennsbury School District where he was an Elementary School Teacher. He was instrumental in the transition of the Middle School. He graduated from Kutztown University and received his Masters degree from Temple University.
John served in the Marine Corps in Korea, receiving five Battle Stars. He was a member of Knowles Doyle Post 317, and V.F.W. Post 6393.
He will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, Pop Pop, teacher, and friend; to know him was to love him.
He is survived by his wife, Randi M. Schunk; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Erik F. and Susan Schunk of Downingtown, PA, and Damon C. Schunk of Yardley, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Erin and James Herbert of New Hope, PA, and six grandchildren, Danielle, Shannon, Jacqueline, and Aidan Herbert, Jonathan Schunk and his wife, Stephanie, and Skylar Rose Schunk.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am Monday at St. John the Evangelist Church, 752 Big Oak Road, Morrisville, PA, where friends may call from 9:30am to 10:45am. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem, PA.
